Your belief that what you do can make a difference contributes to your successful career in law enforcement. Your belief in the power of an association to make a difference can contribute to more effective law enforcement throughout Colorado. By joining the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) you will support the Association in addressing law enforcement issues that are beyond the scope of any one person to effectively address.
We believe in maintaining an Association which is progressive and innovative – where professionalism, loyalty, honesty and integrity prevail, where pride in effort and credibility are the paramount importance, and where academic debate, effective communication and introspection are highly encouraged and practiced. We believe that the Association should be part of a statewide community, striving to develop an open atmosphere of communication, information and public awareness, and striving to improve and maintain public trust and confidence. We believe in fiscal responsibility. We believe that the Association should take an active, nonpartisan role in developing, monitoring and supporting quality law enforcement legislation – working closely with community groups, legislators, the media, private business, and other law enforcement organizations toward this goal. We believe in training and support for the professional development of law enforcement personnel at all levels – training which is high in quality, affordable and frequently available, and where technology transfer and technical assistance are encouraged and provided on an ongoing basis. We believe in maintaining an active Association where member representation and participation from the different geographic regions of the state on the Board of Directors, as well as the organization’s committees, are a high priority, and where the best interest of all members comes clearly into focus in the decision making process.
The challenges faced by agency heads and departments to honorably memorialize officers who have died in the line of duty, and care for their families and department personnel are daunting. The sad reality is there will be more, and your agency could be next.
The Colorado Line of Duty Death Response Team (COLODDRT) will bring together multi-agency professionals with a variety of specialized skills to respond, and assist any organization with a memorial service befitting a hero as needed.
