Support Services for First Responders and their Families

Across our nation first responder agencies are stretched dangerously thin. The difficult, demanding, and dangerous work they do is causing burnout at a record pace.

Before Kathryn‘s husband, Chris, was killed in 2020 by robbery suspects fleeing from Lakewood Police, she knew nothing about this world. Her interactions with law enforcement consisted of a few well-deserved speeding tickets. But the kindness and compassion she experienced from local law enforcement after Chris’ death and what she learned by creating an ongoing relationship with those who serve, protect, and care for us in our worst moments inspired her to act.

Restoration Ranch Colorado, a 501(c)(3), was founded by Kathryn Severns Avery in 2021 to support dispatchers, first responders, emergency department personnel, members of the judiciary, and their families by providing access to opportunities for relaxation, reflection, recreation, health, and wellness.

In 2022, she used her own funds to purchase and renovate a 40-acre ranch where the serene setting provides a place for reflection, relaxation, and recreation and a place to care for those who care for us.

Revital Colorado was launched in September of 2020 to support the mental health and wellness of first responders. The statistics surrounding first responders' mental health was astounding but not surprising to founder Jordan Long.

As a former Firefighter/Paramedic, Jordan and his wife Kym understand some of the physical and mental challenges that come with the job. After a few years of their own struggles, they realized the need for a preventative approach to helping first responders focus on their mental health. They are passionate about supporting public servants and their families in a variety of different ways.

By allowing a safe place for first responders to go enjoy an activity, it allows them to open up and share their experiences and traumas with fellow colleagues who understand the struggles of the job. In turn, the hope is that they can be more present with their families and healthier to do their job at a higher level. They believe that providing platforms for community and connection are a vital way that we can support the mental health and wellness of our first responders.
