CACP Representative Requested To Apply For Mental Health Advisory Board For Service Standards And Regulations

Posted: April 20, 2017

Law enforcement officers are often the first (and sometimes only) professional to intervene when an individual is experiencing a mental health crisis. The Mental Health Advisory Board for Service Standards and Regulations is interested in having a representative on the Board to provide insight into the challenges that law enforcement faces when called to a mental health emergency. The Mental Health Advisory Board for Service Standards and Regulations was created pursuant to Section 27-65-131, C.R.S. and is responsible for recommending standards and rules relevant to the provisions of Title 27, Article 65, C.R.S., Care and Treatment of Persons with Mental Illness.

Board members are appointed by the governor and are assigned to assist the Colorado Department of Human Services in the development of service standards and rules. The Mental Health Advisory Board for Service Standards and Regulations is made up of 11-15 board members, representing various facilities or groups across the State of Colorado.

The board meets once a month at the Office of Behavioral Health and board members are eligible for 2 terms lasting 3 years each. If you are interested or know someone who would be interested in this opportunity, please apply on the Governor’s Board and Commissions website (https://www.colorado.gov/governor/boards-commissions) or contact me for more information.

Sincerely,
Ryan Templeton Coordinator, Mental Health Advisory Board for Service Standards and Regulations Office of Behavioral Health
